The nursery will always remain open if it is possible and safe to do so. In the event of snow, several staff members live locally and it has always been possible for a skeleton staff to walk into work. Parents have the responsibility of getting children to and from the nursery safely, and parents need to decide if the journey is safe when severe weather affects transport or walking conditions.

If severe weather or flooding prevents the nursery from opening, we have an arrangement with local radio stations to inform parents, and the information will be given out on Radio Kent and  KMFM Radio as early as possible in the morning.

If it becomes necessary to close the nursery during the day, we will contact all parents by telephone. Staff will of course remain with children until everyone can be safely collected.
